Man. Where do I even begin with this album?
First off, it's been a while since I've actually been excited about some new music. I didn't know Solange was releasing a new album, but when I found out, I rushed to get my hands on a digital copy. I've been a Solange fan since her Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams album. "Tony" is still in rotation on my iPod (yes, I still use an iPod).
If you haven't listened, maybe take some time to check out the tracks below. (*Soundcloud Go is offering a free trial at the moment.)
YES! her album is everything and more and I too was shocked when I found she released an album. Still in rotation and I love the album even more after seeing the visuals for cranes in the sky and don't touch my hair. I just wish people would now stop comparing her with beyonce they are both great albums and winning in my book. the ultimate black girl magic from both albums
ReplyDeleteI've never listened to lemonade, I actually find myself comparing B to Solange. Not the other way around lol.
DeleteYes! Her album has been on rotation since it came out. I too love the contrast between the soft melodies, her voice and hard hitting message. It flows from beginning to end and feels so complete in such a satisfying way, including all the talking snippets with her mom and master p, etc. Add in her of so aesthetically please videos = so good! If she goes on tour, I definitely want to be there.
ReplyDeleteI was just saying on twitter how i miss interludes on albums. They always help the record flow IMO. And hearing Master P talk about no limits gave me all the 90s feels lol.
DeleteI'd love to see her in concert. I think she'd be best suited in a smaller, more intimate venue, but i'm sure it'd sell out super fast.
Ditto!
ReplyDeleteThis album was right on time!
